2018 Chateau Calendreau Bordeaux
Estate owned by the Galles family through four generations. Situated in the village of SAINT ANDRE DU BOIS 10km from LANGON and 50km south of BORDEAUX on sunny slopes, it overlooks the valley of the Garonne. Their vines grow in argillaceous limestone and argillaceous silty soils, yielding supple, elegant, and well-structured wines that are pleasant to drink.
Traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, alcoholic fermentation using selected yeasts for around one week. The juice is run off, then the grape solids are pressed pneumatically. All the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. Aged in stainless steel vats for 10-18 months. Lightly filtered before bottling.
A sustained garnet-red hue with purple tints, this vintage unveils a warming but subtly fresh nose of jammy prune. The palate is ample and fresh, supple but rich in extract, floral, and with a long, sharp finish.
Food/wine pairings: A good match for warm, cheese-based starters, any red or white meat, and cheese.
60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc
