This incredible English cross of dazzling brown and green zircons, glossy pearls, and diamond sparks has an opulence reminiscent of the Elizabethan court. The 18k gold estate jewel is in the shape of a modified Coptic cross. A large zircon is set in a round bezel at the center of the four arms of the cross, each arm features a zircon set in a rectangular head. A final zircon sits in an oval head at the base of the cross. The zircons exhibit a range of warm, autumnal tones. Four rays of Akoya cultured pearls are set between the arms. Tiny diamonds are bezel set at the tips of each arm and ray. This piece is finished with three wire hooks and hinged locking pin, the cross may be worn as a pendant or a brooch. This extraordinary piece is marked "P.A.F." and hallmarked for 18ct gold, London, and the year 2006.
This brooch comes with an independent appraisal done by a Master Gemologist Appraiser. It has an insurance replacement value of $9200.
Gem Details.....The center zircon is a 9.22ct oval faceted cut, moderately included with a very dark, brownish, orangey yellow (cY 8/1) color. The north zircon is a 2.88ct oval faceted cut, slightly included with a medium dark, brownish, orangey yellow (cY 6/1) color. The east zircon is a 1.72ct oval faceted cut, slightly included with a medium, moderately strong, yellow-green (YG/GY 5/4) color. The south zircon is a 2.63ct oval faceted cut, slightly included with a medium dark, brownish, orangey yellow (cY 6/1) color. The west zircon is a 2.30ct oval faceted cut, transparent, with a medium dark, brownish, orangey yellow (cY 6/1) color. The bottom zircon is a 2.98ct oval faceted cut, with a very dark, slightly brownish, orangey yellow (cY 8/2) color. Eight Akoya pearls measure 6mm and 8mm, with very good luster and nacre. Eight round brilliant full cut diamonds have a total weight of 0.18ct, with VS clarity and F-G color.
